Future Vision
Harlow is going places. The town has been designated by the government for major economic and housing growth. Its increasingly significant sub-regional role means it continues to attract significant government, regional and private sector investment. £31m of central government funding was recently committed to supporting its economic growth and £400m is being invested in town centre development.
Regional strategies have highlighted the potential of the M11 corridor, and Harlow's position within it, as a focus for hi-tech, knowledge-based employment, related to the Cambridge cluster and London. Part of this is a focus on a 'transport and regeneration led corridors' approach to attract new businesses and employment.
In support of an already strong economic base, with 42,000 jobs already based in the town, there is a continued focus on supporting innovation and economic diversification to capitalise on Harlow's prime location.
