Vision for Harlow
The regional spatial development plan designates Harlow as 'Key Centre for Development and Change' and envisages Harlow growing in population, jobs and significance. In addition to becoming a more prominent strategic business centre, the town will take on a more significant role in sub-regional activities in such areas as retail, leisure and culture. This is being boosted by the growth of Stansted Airport and investment in education, the research base and innovation activity already in evidence.
The local regeneration strategy sets out a vision for Harlow as:
- A prime business location and gateway to Europe.
- A place of aspiration and a university town.
- A cultural hub.
- A sub-regional centre and retail destination.
